Our Values

At the forefront of social and environmental change lies accountability within corporations to implement sustainable business practices. By doing this, our business model facilitates scalable sustainability solutions through farming techniques which aim to tackle social & environmental issues, one step at a time.

We source directly from trained and registered farmers to ensure the highest levels of quality and transparency. Products are traced from farm to point of distribution and processed locally in Enimiro’s own dedicated processing facilities ensuring superior quality control.

Providing farmers access to valuable resources and ongoing education ensures high-quality products and consistency every time. Enimiro brings a new level of transparency to the supply chain for  companies who value equitable and sustainably-sourced products.

Increasing farmer opportunities and contributing to a sustainable future.

Integrated Farming Techniques.

Ugandan farmers have an average landholding of 1.51acres. Due to these size constraints, it becomes unsustainable to intensely farm using a monocropping model.

Enimiro’s solution to this issue is to promote a permaculture system, thus ensuring farmers can achieve sustained outputs (economically, environmentally, and socially) on their land over time

Supply Chain Transparency

Current supply chains consist of several steps between origin and end-buyers. When faced with issues such as inconsistent quality, lack of visibility, and socially irresponsible business practices, the traditional model of product delivery falls short.

Enimiro removes unnecessary steps from the procurement process to provide a direct supply chain for both the farmer & consumer. We want to increase the level of access and connection for buyers giving them more visibility and control over the products they are purchasing which also gives the farmer more equity in the market.

Innovation, Farming and Technology.

Strengthening the institutional base of agriculture is achieved by utilising Enimiro’s collaborative innovation centre which provides testing and training for farmers to implement optimal farming practices. Small commercial farms co-operate to grow and deliver exceptional quality tested products, therefore education and training through this civic facility is imperative to deliver cohesive farming practices.

This open network facility contributes to increased production, farmer incomes and creates an environmental equilibrium for small land holding farmers. Providing a low cost access point to the farmers makes room for a mico-financing solutions to assist with implementation of improved practices and access to new technologies.

Traceability Technology Development

Access to new technologies will have a significant impact on farming practices in the future. New technologies facilitate an increase in production and farm incomes and also provides a valuable tool to ensure an environmental equilibrium is sustained for small-land holding farmers. However, the introduction of this technology into communities has its own set of challenges which can be difficult and costly. To overcome these potential difficulties, Enimiro’s innovation centres provide testing and training facilities that allow low-cost access for farmers.

Once we determine the viability of the technology for the community, we provide low-cost micro- financing solutions to our members and then closely monitor the technology with our extension workers to ensure it is correctly implemented which provides tangible benefits.

Introducing new technology into agricultural communities has always been a challenge. Fortunately Enimiro has a large network of farmers that utilise our innovation centres daily which shortens the learning curve for all our members.

Black Soldier Fly Initiative

Black Soldier Flies offer a new solution to a viable source of protein for the feed industry, particularly aquaculture. A tropical fly that feeds on organic waste, it provides a unique opportunity for farmers to increase their income while supplying a sustainable source of animal feed.

Hermetia illucens larvae protein are the sustainable & scalable answer to the protein crisis. Hermetia illucens are commonly known as the black soldier fly, and are the leading insect species used in the animal feed and pet food sector. Native to South America this species naturalised most of the world for 400 years. This friendly species is not pathogenic for humans nor a pest for agricultural crops and can be found all around the world, but are best suited to tropical environments.

Black soldier flies are generalists insects, which means they can eat almost any type of waste and convert it into valuable biomass. Their main survival mechanism is rapid reproduction. They grow quickly and lay many eggs in a short time. As they tend to not eat as adults they have to accumulate protein and oil as larvae. Their ability to convert organic waste into valuable protein and oil in a short time, in vertical farming systems using small amounts of land and water make these flies the most effective species to fulfil the demand of sustainable and scalable production of protein and oil.

Kipling Lodge

Partnering with Enimiro, The Kipling Lodge is located in a verdant 'jungle estate' on the Nile riverbanks in Uganda. It has five exclusive cottages as well as a restaurant, the bar and the pool are all facing the longest river in the world, at the exact place Kipling would have chosen if he had travelled along the River from the Mediterranean Sea to Lake Victoria. The Kipling Lodge has been built  with the support of the community of Namakwanda.
